WP2 Food waste valorisation
The main aim of WP2 is to convert food waste into high value products. Acid fermentation in plug-flow reactors is used to implement an economical feasible method to use food waste as feedstock for bioprocesses. First, we collect and characterize the waste material from different canteens, which are delivered from the project partners.
Food waste valorisation
The reasons why food waste occurs have been examined in various studies until now and measurements for reduction have been detected. But besides a lack of implementation of actions for preventing or minimizing food waste in practice there is also knowledge missing about how to add value to food waste. This is part of work package 2 of the project AVARE. The aim is to address food waste as a renewable resource, supporting the business based waste-to-value technology by co-operating closely with SME’s (Small and Medium Enterprise) acting on different areas of this future business.
